DESCRIPTION:Organization Name: Embracing Our Differences\, Inc. Event: Embracing Our Differences – BookPrep Workshop On October 20th\, we will be preparing books for school children (pre-K -3rd grade) at the EOD Offices. These books will be read to students in participating classrooms throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties by EOD volunteers on Nov 17th. In partnership with Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading\, Embracing our Differences conducts “Bucket Fillers Reading days” with pre-selected age appropriate books. These reading days celebrate literacy through a wide variety of books that focus on themes of inclusion\, kindness\, and respect; stimulating conversation about what we share and what makes us unique. This is a wonderful activity where we all have a chance to enjoy giving back and being together. We may even be surprised when one of our members chooses to read aloud the books we are prepping! Book prep is a seated activity with some volunteers helping sort and pack books in the workroom. One week prior to the service event\,  we will coordinate optional\, but encouraged\, carpooling and lunch (immediately after the event) for all volunteers. All carpooler’s will meet in the lower level of the Clubhouse parking lot. \n Parking at EOD is in the front of the building which faces Tamiami Trail (Rt 41S)\, The EOD offices are on the 2nd floor with elevator access. \nFor those TLCWCF members who wish to volunteer further\, consider signing up to be a Bucket Filler Reader through the EOD at the various schools on Nov. 17th. To sign up as a reader\, go to the EOD website: EmbracingOurDifferences.org.  Page down to select “volunteer with us” in the “GET INVOLVED” section. Next\, page down  to select “be a Volunteer reader” and then select ” Bucket Fillers Reading (11/17) “. That will take you to the EOD registration form. You can request to be assigned to the same school as another Lake Club resident volunteer.
