How did you hear about our organization?
The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle made a significant impact in 2024 with a generous $2,000 grant supporting single mothers in our Homeownership Program.
We have also had the privilege of seeing many Lake Club residents volunteer on our build sites, demonstrating the community’s strong commitment to creating lasting change. We are deeply grateful to the Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle and all who help transform these dreams into reality.
What do you believe we can provide your organization?
Habitat for Humanity Sarasota provides long-term solutions for affordable homeownership and critical home repairs for income-qualified families. Since 1985, we have built nearly 500 homes for low-income first-time homeowners, reflecting our commitment to the belief that “Everyone deserves a decent place to live.” We focus on families earning less than 80% of the area median income, $77,500 for a household of three, offering 0% interest, 30-year mortgages that keep monthly housing costs affordable. Habitat Sarasota works to ensure that every family in our community has a safe, stable, and affordable home. Your funding will make a tangible difference in our Habitat Sarasota families’ lives.
Habitat Sarasota provides blinds in all of our homes to enhance the safety, comfort, and well-being of the families we serve. For single-parent households, blinds add an essential layer of privacy and security. They can be costly for new homeowners, so providing them reduces financial strain while also improving energy efficiency by helping regulate indoor temperatures and lowering electricity costs. Beyond safety and savings, blinds contribute to a sense of home and dignity, allowing families to feel secure, comfortable, and fully settled in the space they’ve worked so hard to achieve.
We are requesting a grant to fund blinds for two 3-bedroom, 2-bath homes with five (5) windows and one (1) sliding glass door and one 4-bedroom, 3-bath home with six (6) windows. By supporting our blinds project, The Lake Club Women’s Group will help ensure that families have a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient home, providing the essential tools they need to settle in, thrive, and create a brighter future.
What will the grant be used for?
Habitat Sarasota seeks funding of $1,968 to purchase blinds for two 3-bedroom, 2-bath homes with five (5) windows and one (1) sliding glass door and one 4-bedroom, 3-bath home with six (6) windows for single mothers in our Homeownership Program.
These blinds are an important part of making the homes safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient. Your support of this need will directly enhance the quality of life for each homeowner and her family as they settle into a place they can truly call home.
All three homes are located in the Newtown community, a historically underserved area where many families face economic challenges and housing insecurity. By supporting our blinds project, Lake Club Giving Circle will help ensure that families have a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient home, providing the essential tools they need to settle in, thrive, and create a brighter future.
Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $1,968.00
Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes
What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?
The financial impact would be approximately $197 per person at the highest. This estimate is based on three homes: two families with an average of three individuals each, and one home with four individuals, totaling 10 people. However, this number could increase to as many as 13 individuals.
(Calculation: $1,968 ÷ 10 people = $197 per person)
Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.
The generous support from The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle will be strategically allocated to assist three households, positively impacting up to thirteen adults and children. The majority of those we serve are single moms, hardworking women balancing the demands of providing for their families while creating safe and stable homes for their children. Of the three homes, two will be three-bedroom homes, and one will be a four-bedroom home. We anticipate serving at least three adults and seven children, with the total potentially reaching thirteen. This funding highlights the ripple effect of community partnerships, enabling us to provide essential resources and transform the living environments of families in need.
