How did you hear about our organization?

We are a local organization serving students in Manatee County, including those from the Lakewood Ranch community. In previous grant cycles, we had the opportunity to connect with your organization and were inspired by your generous support for educational initiatives. We have seen firsthand the positive impact your contributions have made in our community, and we greatly value the possibility of partnering with you again to advance our students’ academic and personal success this year.

What do you believe we can provide your organization?

Through this partnership, we believe your organization can provide Take Stock in Children of Manatee County with critical support for our dorm and housing scholarship initiative. Your grant will help reduce the financial barriers that economically disadvantaged students face, ensuring they have safe and stable housing while pursuing post-secondary education. Combined with the Florida Prepaid System’s matching funds, your support will lower out-of-pocket costs for students and increase their likelihood of completing college successfully. By working together, we can help these students overcome economic challenges, break the cycle of poverty, and achieve their academic and career aspirations.

What will the grant be used for?

The grant will be used to fund dorm scholarships for low-income, high-achieving students enrolled in the Take Stock in Children of Manatee County program. These scholarships will cover the costs of on-campus housing, ensuring that students can focus on their studies without the additional stress of securing safe and affordable housing. The funds will be matched by the Florida Prepaid System, effectively doubling the impact of the grant and allowing us to support even more students as they pursue higher education. This initiative is critical in providing the stability and resources our students need to thrive academically and ultimately graduate.

Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $4,250.00

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes

What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?

The financial impact of this grant on each student will be $2,125, which covers half of the two-year dorm or housing scholarship cost. When combined with matching funds from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation, each student effectively receives $4,250 in scholarship support. This investment directly reduces the cost of college housing, allowing students to focus on their studies without financial strain and increasing their likelihood of successfully completing post-secondary education. By funding four students in total, this grant, together with the match, maximizes the impact of philanthropic dollars and helps break down economic barriers for families in our community.

Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.

This project will directly serve two students in our program, all of whom are economically disadvantaged youth from Manatee County. Each student will receive a two-year dorm or housing scholarship, providing safe, stable accommodations while pursuing post-secondary education. In addition to the students themselves, their families benefit indirectly, as the financial relief allows households to allocate resources to other essential needs, reducing overall economic stress and supporting long-term family stability.
