How did you hear about our organization?
Jennifer Alokeh Vice-Chair, The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle
What do you believe we can provide your organization?
Kim’s Krew believes The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle can provide Kim’s Krew with vital philanthropic funding and partnership support to sustain Kim’s Krew Food Pantry & Emergency Stabilization Program for vulnerable families in Manatee County. This support would allow Kim’s Krew to meet immediate basic needs while helping women, children, and families regain stability after an unexpected health crisis.
What will the grant be used for?
The requested $3,500 funds will be allocated toward direct program costs of Kim’s Krew Food Pantry & Emergency Stabilization Program, including the purchase of food and essential items (29%) and client delivery fees for 100 families (71%) for immediate relief. These core components ensure immediate and reliable access to nutrition for clients who cannot reach traditional food pantries due to health, in addition to financial, transportation, and/or system barriers.
In 2025, the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) report revealed that more than 65,000 households in Manatee County are either living below the federal poverty line or classified as ALICE, working yet struggling to afford basic needs. A pressing issue, as nearly half of Manatee County’s families are just one unexpected expense away from a crisis. One of the most devastating and unchosen hardships these families can face is a health crisis, whether physical or mental, that can compromise their ability to access food, hygiene, and essential household items for themselves and their families. Kim’s Krew is a lifeline during a health-related crisis, delivering up to 30 days of food, hygiene products, and basic household supplies directly to families in a health crisis for the entire household.
Kim’s Krew can provide delivery with dignity, compassion, and immediacy. In emergencies, Kim’s Krew can deliver within 24 hours. Our pantry is client-driven, offering personalized care based on preferences and medical needs, including low-sugar, low-sodium, and liquid nutritional options under the guidance of a volunteer Registered Dietitian. Every client served is referred by trusted healthcare providers and social service partners, ensuring care reaches those most in need. We aim to work hand-in-hand with community partners such as Manatee County EMS, Manatee Rural Health, Meals on Wheels, and others. Together, Kim’s Krew and partners fill a crucial service gap for families facing food insecurity during a health crisis. Kim’s Krew’s impact extends beyond the individual referred. When a parent or caregiver is in crisis, the entire household, primarily dependent children, is affected. By stabilizing families during their most vulnerable moments by addressing immediate needs such as food, Kim’s Krew not only helps them stay together but also empowers them to avoid deeper hardship and begin the path to health for economic stability and mobility. Through compassionate, one-on-one volunteer navigation and their referral agency case management, clients are connected with longer-term resources and support systems to move toward stability. Compared to traditional food pantries Kim’s Krew offers a different and highly targeted approach. Kim’s Krew is more than a food pantry; it’s a community response to crisis, offering immediate relief and long-term hope to Manatee County families when they need it most.
A Kim’s Krew food delivery can be the difference between hunger and a full stomach, between despair and hope during a time of crisis, for an entire family, in the face of an unexpected and unchosen health crisis.
