How did you hear about our organization?
Parenting Matters was provided with funding during last year’s cycle. Additionally, our executive director, Katie Becker, attended your reception in February 2026.
What do you believe we can provide your organization?
We believe your organization can play a vital role in ensuring that parents in our community have access to the support they need during some of their most challenging moments. With your investment, we can provide timely, accessible counseling services that help families stabilize, strengthen relationships, and create safe, nurturing home environments for their children.
In addition to funding, we value the opportunity to engage with your network of thoughtful, community-minded women. Through shared learning, advocacy, and connection, your members help elevate awareness around the importance of supporting parents as a pathway to preventing child abuse and building stronger families.
What will the grant be used for?
This grant will expand access to bilingual mental health counseling for parents participating in our Parent Partner Program, ensuring families can receive timely, culturally responsive support when they need it most.
The Parent Partner Program is an evidence-based, in-home parenting program that serves families with children ages 0–16 who are at increased risk of child abuse or neglect. Through weekly visits over a 5–10-month period, Parenting Educators work alongside parents to strengthen protective factors, reduce stress, and build the skills needed to create safe, stable, and nurturing home environments.
While parenting education is essential, many families face underlying mental health challenges and unresolved trauma that can make it difficult to fully engage in services or sustain progress. This funding will allow us to directly address those barriers by integrating counseling into the program.
Through our partnership with Samaritan Counseling Services, parents and children will have prioritized access to free or reduced-cost counseling. This ensures families can receive support without delay, helping caregivers process trauma, improve emotional well-being, and strengthen their capacity to parent effectively. By addressing both immediate needs and root causes, this investment supports long-term stability, healthier family relationships, and better outcomes for children.

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes
What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?
This grant will provide 6–13 parents with access to bilingual mental health counseling, support that has a direct and lasting impact on both the parent and their children.
For each individual served, the impact includes: Greater emotional regulation and reduced stress, increased ability to engage in and benefit from parenting education, and stronger, more stable relationships within the family. By addressing mental health challenges early, this funding helps prevent crises and creates the conditions for long-term stability.
The financial impact of this investment extends beyond the individual. Strengthening a parent’s mental health creates a more stable and nurturing home environment, supporting healthier child development, stronger attachment, and improved long-term outcomes for the entire family.
Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.
Through this grant, Parenting Matters will directly serve approximately 6–13 parents in Sarasota and/or Manatee County through bilingual mental health counseling services.
Because each parent is part of a larger family system, the impact extends to their children and partners. In total, an estimated 50–60 individuals will benefit from this project, including both parents and children within the household.
While the number of direct participants is intentionally limited to ensure depth and quality of care, the ripple effect of this support strengthens entire families, leading to healthier relationships, improved child well-being, and greater long-term stability.

Anything else you would like to share with us?
The Parent Partner Program is an accredited, evidence-based approach to preventing child abuse by strengthening families before challenges escalate. Through consistent, in-home support over several months, Parenting Educators build trusted relationships with parents, creating space for honest conversations, growth, and lasting change.
What makes this work especially impactful is the combination of practical parenting support and deeper, individualized care. When parents are equipped with both the skills and the emotional support they need, they are better able to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments for their children.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be considered and for the role your organization plays in supporting women, children, and families in our community. Your investment helps ensure that parents are not navigating these challenges alone and that children have the opportunity to grow up in safe and supportive homes.
