What do you believe we can provide your organization?

A grant of $10,000 from the Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle would play a meaningful role in helping New Jerusalem Haitian Baptist Church (NJHBC) expand its services to include an affordable childcare and early learning program for families in the Sarasota community. This funding would support the purchase of essential classroom equipment, early learning materials, and safety supplies needed to create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for young children.

The investment would directly contribute to establishing a safe, welcoming childcare space that promotes early learning, social development, and school readiness for children from low- and moderate-income families. In addition, the program will help working parents maintain employment while their children receive quality care. Support from the Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle would help NJHBC take a critical step toward expanding access to affordable childcare and strengthening family stability within the community.

What will the grant be used for?

The grant will be used to purchase educational materials, cribs, tables, chairs, playground material for a new childcare program serving children 6 weeks – 5 years.

Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $10,000.00

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes

What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?

A $10,000 grant would provide critical startup support for the New Jerusalem Haitian Baptist Church (NJHBC) Childcare Program by helping establish a safe and enriching early learning environment for children in the community. The childcare program is expected to serve 30–40 children annually, benefiting approximately 30–40 working parents or guardians who rely on affordable childcare in order to maintain employment or pursue education.

Based on projected enrollment, this investment would translate to an estimated $250–$330 in direct program support per child served during the first year. These funds will help purchase classroom learning materials, age-appropriate furniture, safety equipment, and educational supplies that support early childhood development and school readiness.

The grant will therefore have a significant impact by expanding access to quality childcare while supporting family stability and economic opportunity for the families NJHBC serves.

Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.

The NJHBC childcare expansion will:
• Provide 30+ affordable childcare slots annually
• Train 10–15 new childcare professionals per year
• Support working parents and single-parent households
• Improve early childhood school readiness
• Create local employment opportunities
This program will strengthen families, support workforce participation, and improve early childhood outcomes within the Sarasota community.
