What do you believe we can provide your organization?
In addition to providing the financial support needed to continue these programs, we believe that by contributing to them you would help us spread the word about them to more individuals who may not be aware of them but who would benefit from them.
What will the grant be used for?
The grant would be used toward the funding of our Senior Community Outreach programs in Sarasota and Manatee Counties:
As the senior population continues to grow, there is an increasing need for accessible, high-quality enrichment programs that promote cognitive stimulation, social connection, and emotional well-being. Many senior living communities, adult day centers, performing arts presenters, and enrichment providers face challenges delivering consistent, engaging programming that is both meaningful and easy to implement without requiring specialized staff or extensive resources. This gap is particularly acute for seniors living with health conditions such as Memory Loss, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease where traditional programming may not be inclusive or meaningful. For more than a decade Key Chorale has been bringing the therapeutic benefits of singing to our community.
Music-based programs are widely recognized for their ability to uplift mood, improve memory recall, and foster community – but few structured, turnkey solutions exist that combine the therapeutic power of music with the joy of group performance in a way that’s accessible to a broad range of participants. There is a clear need for a scalable, user-friendly solution that helps senior service providers and performing arts presenters enrich lives through music, especially for those with limited musical training or capacity. Our success in growing our local programs, outlined below, has prompted the need to expand outside our immediate geography through the program for which this grant application is being made.
Off-Key Chorale employs music therapeutically to reverse and/or slow debilitating Parkinson’s disease symptoms, while providing an opportunity for individuals to improve and strengthen their voices. A collaboration and partnership with the Neuro Challenge Foundation, a local organization addressing the needs of the Parkinson’s community, Off-Key Chorale provides a vibrant fellowship activity for those whose social opportunities are often limited by this disease.
Where Are My Keys? Chorale provides positive and joyful experiences for those living with Memory Loss and Alzheimer’s Disease, and their care partners. Two eight-week sessions are conducted annually, concluding with a performance. Where Are My Keys? Chorale uses the power of singing to enable those living with Memory Loss and Alzheimer’s Disease to rediscover themselves, gain confidence in a group activity and become social again. The potential of this group to experience renewed purpose, learning, friendships, and sheer joy is emphasized. Locally, Key Chorale is proud to provide this program free of charge to both Senior Friendship Centers and Aravilla Memory Care in Sarasota County, Key Chorale’s collaborative partners in this program.
Come Together Choirs reflect our long-standing experience in designing and delivering purposeful, community-based singing programs. Our local Come Together Choir (CTC) for senior enrichment is a collaborative partnership with Key Chorale and Town Square Sarasota (Innovative Adult Day).
Participating in these choirs offers a meaningful way to engage in community life while enhancing emotional well-being. Participants build friendships, collaborate to create a beautiful, shared sound, and experience the many therapeutic benefits of singing. Group singing supports physical health, fosters emotional connection, and strengthens social bonds. These benefits extend not only to participants, but also to their care partners and the volunteer singers from Key Chorale who help bring the program to life.
