How did you hear about our organization?

SRQ Daily

What do you believe we can provide your organization?

We continue to have a need for funds that allow us to offer tutoring services for students in our Future Leader Academy college preparation program, which helps low-income Hispanic/Latino high school students enroll in college. Professional tutoring support helps these students qualify for the state Bright Futures scholarship through increased standardized test scores, improves their academic standing in a variety of subjects, and in some cases, assists them with their English language skills. This support allows them to achieve their post-secondary aspirations.

What will the grant be used for?

We will engage local organization Smart Kids Tutor, a peer-based tutoring service, to assist our high school students with tutoring sessions, as well as utilize Kaplan online test preparation services.

Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $3,000.00

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes

What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?

$3,000 will provide ~10 students with at least 3 sessions each of one-on-one or group academic tutoring and/or Kaplan online services at ~$150 per student for ~20 students. The return on this investment can be exponential in terms of the student’s increased access to both the state Bright Futures scholarship, as well as other merit-based financial aid resources. The increased academic performance can also open doors for more college acceptances for our students.

Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.

This grant will support 10 to 20 high school students, depending on the duration of their tutoring services and/or use of the Kaplan online test preparation resources.
