Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

How did you hear about our organization?

The Salvation Army Sarasota County first became familiar with The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle through local nonprofit and philanthropic connections in the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch community. Our previous application further introduced us to the Giving Circle’s commitment to supporting local organizations serving women, children, and families. We were pleased to receive a call inviting us to apply again this year and greatly appreciate the opportunity to submit another request for consideration.

What do you believe we can provide your organization?

The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle can help us provide a meaningful graduation and recognition experience for families completing The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope initiative. Pathway of Hope provides families with 18 to 24 months of comprehensive, individualized case management to help them identify and work toward goals related to employment, financial well-being, housing stability, education, and other barriers to self-sufficiency. The program serves families with at least one child under 18 and household incomes below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, with services provided without discrimination and no requirement to participate in religious activities. Through this long-term, family-centered approach, Pathway of Hope seeks to help families build greater stability and ultimately break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Recent program results demonstrate the progress families are making through this intensive, long-term approach. Of 49 families served from October 24, 2025, through August 25, 2026, approximately 98% maintained or increased their income, 98% maintained or improved their housing stability, and 94% made progress toward their individualized goals. One hundred percent of families were connected with resources to help address barriers affecting their stability.

Your partnership would allow us to recognize families as they reach the culmination of their Pathway of Hope journey and celebrate the sustained effort behind these accomplishments. Graduation provides families with an opportunity to reflect on how far they have come and be recognized for the dedication and perseverance they have demonstrated throughout the program. Consistent with Pathway of Hope’s two-generation approach, the experience also allows children to share in and witness their parents’ achievement, providing a powerful example of perseverance, goal setting, and following through on long-term commitments. In this way, graduation celebrates not only what parents have accomplished, but also the example they are setting for their children as families continue building a more stable future.

What will the grant be used for?

Grant funding will support the graduation and recognition component of The Salvation Army Sarasota County’s Pathway of Hope initiative, held in May 2027. Funds will support graduation stoles and certificates of recognition for parents, refreshments for participating families, and other graduation supplies associated with this program milestone.

These funds will help cover the costs associated with recognizing the projected six plus families expected to complete Pathway of Hope during the grant period and allow parents and children to celebrate this achievement together.

Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $3,000.00

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County?
Yes

What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?

The requested $3,000 will support the Pathway of Hope graduation and recognition component for families completing the program in May 2027. For context, 18 families completed the Pathway of Hope and participated in graduation in May 2026. Because Pathway of Hope is individualized and families progress toward their goals at different rates, the financial impact per family will depend on how many families reach program completion and participate in the May 2027 graduation.

Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.

Pathway of Hope serves up to 30 families at a time through two Case Managers, each supporting 15 families in North and South Sarasota County. Because families progress through the 18-to-24-month program at an individualized pace, the number of families eligible to participate in the May 2027 graduation will be determined by each family’s progress and readiness to complete the program.
