Mission Statement:
Our Mission
Prodigal Daughters Journey Home is a faith-based residential program dedicated to helping women and their children heal from addiction, abuse, trafficking, trauma, and other life-altering circumstances. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where mothers and children can remain together while healing from the wounds of their past and building a healthier future.
Through counseling, recovery support, parenting education, life-skills development, mentorship, education, and a strong community of support, we help women address the underlying issues that have affected their lives and families. We equip mothers with the tools needed to develop healthy relationships, strengthen parenting skills, achieve greater stability and independence, and create a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
At the heart of our mission is family restoration. We believe that when a mother has the opportunity to heal and rebuild her life, her children also have the opportunity to experience greater security, stability, and hope. By strengthening mothers and keeping families together, we seek to break destructive cycles that can continue from one generation to the next.
As a faith-based organization, our values are rooted in compassion, dignity, hope, accountability, and the belief that every woman and child deserves the opportunity for a new beginning. Our goal is to help families move beyond surviving their past and become equipped to build healthy, stable, and independent futures.

How did you hear about our organization?
Through word of mouth and research
What do you believe we can provide your organization?
We believe TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation can provide meaningful support that strengthens our ability to welcome women and children who are entering Prodigal Daughters Journey Home during a vulnerable time in their lives. Your partnership would help us ensure that families arriving with limited resources can begin their journey in a safe, stable, and welcoming environment with dignity and their immediate needs addressed.
Beyond financial support, we value the opportunity to build relationships with women in our community who share a desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of women and children in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
What will the grant be used for?
Grant funds will be used exclusively to provide essential basic-needs items for women and children entering our residential program. Many families come to Prodigal Daughters with very few personal belongings and may need immediate assistance with clothing, shoes, undergarments, pajamas, bedding, towels, diapers, wipes, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, and other necessities.
Because every woman and child arrives with different needs, sizes, and circumstances, we are also requesting the flexibility to receive gift cards to retailers such as Walmart or Target. This would allow our staff to purchase specific items as needs arise rather than purchasing supplies that may not be appropriate for a particular family.
Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $3,000.00
Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes
What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?
The financial impact will vary based on the individual needs of each woman and child entering our program. We anticipate at least eight new families entering Prodigal Daughters during the grant period; however, assistance will not be limited to a set dollar amount per family.
Some families may require only a few essential items, while others may arrive with very little and need clothing, shoes, bedding, diapers, hygiene products, and other necessities. By providing assistance based on actual need, the $3,000 grant can be used efficiently and may serve more than eight families during the grant period.
This flexible, needs-based approach allows us to direct funding where it will have the greatest immediate impact while ensuring that grant dollars are used only for necessary items.
Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.
Prodigal Daughters Journey Home is a small residential program with the capacity to house up to eight women and their children at one time, with a total household capacity of approximately 23 individuals. Because our program is long-term and the number of new admissions depends on graduations and available space, we anticipate welcoming at least eight new families during the next 12 months.
Based on our capacity and anticipated admissions, we estimate this project will directly serve at least 8 women and their accompanying children, or approximately 16–23 individuals, from Sarasota and Manatee Counties during the grant period. The actual number of children served will vary depending on the size of each family entering the program.
Every individual assisted through this grant will receive essential items based on their specific needs at the time of admission.

Anything else you would like to share with us?
Prodigal Daughters Journey Home is a small residential nonprofit, which means a grant of $3,000 can make a significant and very tangible difference for the families we serve. Women often come to us during a major transition in their lives, sometimes bringing very few belongings for themselves or their children.
While we are blessed with community donations, donated supplies do not always match the immediate needs, sizes, or ages of the families entering our home. Having designated funding available allows us to respond quickly and provide the specific essentials a mother and her children need, from properly fitting shoes and clothing to diapers, bedding, and personal-care items.
Our program provides women and their children with a safe, stable residential environment while mothers work toward healing, healthy parenting, education, life skills, and long-term independence. Families are not charged for housing or their basic needs while participating in the program.
Although Prodigal Daughters is faith-based, women are welcomed regardless of their religious background or beliefs. Funding from TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation would be used solely for direct basic-needs assistance for women and children and would not support religious programming.
We would be honored to partner with TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation to help ensure that when a mother and her children walk through our doors, they are welcomed with dignity, compassion, and the essential items they need to begin again.
