Have you previously received a grant? Yes
If yes, please indicate the year(s): Mothers Helping Mothers previously received support in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
How did you hear about our organization?
MHM learned about The Lake Club Women’s Charitable Foundation through its longstanding community presence and has since built a meaningful relationship through prior grant awards, community events, facility tours, and volunteer engagement.
What do you believe we can provide your organization?
TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation can help ensure local babies begin life with the essential items they need to sleep safely, travel safely, and be cared for during the critical first weeks and months. A $5,000 grant would help MHM provide car seats, safe-sleep equipment, diapers, wipes, newborn essentials, and other immediate supports through Welcome to the World while keeping these resources free to families experiencing financial hardship. The Foundation’s partnership also extends beyond supplies: it helps connect caregivers to MHM’s resource navigation, education, coaching, and compassionate guidance so families have a trusted place to turn as needs arise. MHM would welcome members for a facility tour, group volunteer project, or baby-supply drive.
What will the grant be used for?
Mothers Helping Mothers requests $5,000 for Welcome to the World, which supports expectant parents and families with newborns during pregnancy and a baby’s earliest months. The program provides essential infant items, safety-focused education, and connections to ongoing support so families can meet immediate needs without having to navigate hardship alone.
Grant funds will be restricted to direct Welcome to the World program supplies and allocated flexibly based on documented family needs and product availability. Eligible purchases may include convertible car seats at approximately $130 each, portable baby beds or comparable safe-sleep items at approximately $75 each, newborn kits at an average cost of approximately $25 each, diapers and wipes, formula and feeding supplies, breast pumps, baby clothing, hygiene items, and other essential infant safety and care supplies.
Because every family’s circumstances are different, MHM does not use a one-size-fits-all package. One family may urgently need a safe car seat, while another may need a safe place for their baby to sleep, a newborn kit, diapers, feeding supplies, or a combination of several items. This flexibility allows MHM to use the $5,000 where it will have the greatest immediate impact while ensuring all funded items are provided free of charge based on documented need and product availability.
Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $5,000.00
Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes
What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?
Assistance ranges from approximately $25 for a newborn kit to $130 or more when higher-cost or multiple essential items are provided. The direct financial impact to each household will depend on the items received.
Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.
Welcome to the World served 536 new infant families in 2025. MHM conservatively projects serving approximately 550 newborns and their families in 2027. This $5,000 grant is expected to directly support approximately 40 to 85 newborns and their caregivers, depending on the combination of items each family needs.
Is there a matching grant? Yes
If yes, indicate donation source: Board Member, Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust
May we tour your facility? Yes
What reciprocal benefit can you provide our organization:
Mothers Helping Mothers recognizes funding partners on its community partners webpage, in newsletters and social media, and through appropriate program or event communications. MHM also provides impact updates and will work with TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation to identify additional recognition opportunities that are meaningful to its members.

Mothers Helping Mothers serves more than 3,000 families and approximately 6,500 children annually across Sarasota and Manatee counties. In 2025, MHM distributed 512 baby bags, 478 safe-sleep items, and 1,382 car seats, including 497 all-in-one seats. Community need remains significant: 34% of Sarasota County households and 42% of Manatee County households are classified as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), meaning they earn above the Federal Poverty Level but still struggle to afford basic necessities.
In 2025, 547 unique volunteers contributed more than 22,000 hours, helping MHM stretch every donated dollar and keep services accessible. MHM’s work is strengthened by collaborations and support from foundations, healthcare providers, early childhood organizations, and community partners throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties.
