How was the money used?
The funds were used to scholarship the fee associated with our Court Session Program and the standard drug test given to rule out or rule in the use of any illegal substances. Any remainder funds of the grant were used for gift cards to give to those youth who could not afford a dress shirt/pants or shoes to wear to the follow up court jury duties that come as a result of being in our program.
Was there an unexpected benefit or a special outcome from this grant that you would like to share? Yes
If yes, please explain:
The opportunity to see the stress relief for our families to not have to pay for a program is rewarding as a non-profit organization. Our families are assessed in an interview and if they are on or below the poverty line, this is where grants like yours are priceless. Also, a child receiving a gift card for shoes makes them feel like they fit in at school, relieves anxiety and builds their self-esteem. We see this happen every week and we are so proud to be able to find ways/funds to accommodate their stressful time.
