How was the money used?
The funds supported the Teen Health Educator program, whereby local volunteer high school students are coached and mentored to provide peer-based health education to at-risk youth in the community. We are currently expanding our program into Sarasota County and this grant was a hugely appreciated as part of supporting our growing, and award-winning program!
Was there an unexpected benefit or a special outcome from this grant that you would like to share? Yes
If yes, please explain:
The grantee event in March was a wonderful opportunity to deepen some existing community partnerships as we came together. We also really appreciated the local news coverage of the event.
How many people were impacted by this grant?
The Teen Health Educator program supports approximately 40 Teen Health Educators working with around 300 youth per year
