How was the money used?

The $750 grant was applied toward a larger $7,345.80 purchase of books for the ELC’s community literacy programs. The order included 3,195 books at an average cost of about $2.30 each, so the foundation’s support covered approximately 326 books. ReadingPals children received books to keep at home, where they could reread them and share them with family members.

Was there an unexpected benefit or a special outcome from this grant that you would like to share? Yes

If yes, please explain:

Yes. By combining the grant with other funding and purchasing books in a large order, the ELC secured discounted pricing and stretched the foundation’s $750 further. The grant covered approximately 326 books, enough to provide nearly three books for each of the 110 children served by ReadingPals.

Thank you to The Lake Club Women’s Charitable Foundation for helping place more books in the hands of young readers in Manatee County. Your support gave children books to keep at home and share with their families.
