How was the money used?

The grant award from Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle was used to help support the SPARCC Emergency Shelter Program which houses survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their minor children. The SPARCC Shelter operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. While SPARCC’s clients are predominantly women and their minor children, eligibility is open to all victims of domestic and sexual violence and it does not discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or income level. All services provided are free and confidential. Primary objectives of SPARCC Shelter are the provision of safety and empowerment-based services for survivors, and the prevention of future domestic and sexual violence.
The location of SPARCC Emergency Shelter is kept confidential, to ensure safety. Trained staff is on site at all times. The primary goal is to protect survivors (and their children) from harm and restore them to self-sufficiency through supportive services. Services include: safe refuge, food, clothing and financial assistance (limited), crisis counseling, service management, advocacy, legal services, therapy, safety planning, transportation, information/referral to other sources of assistance, children’s assessments, on-site kennel, professional training and an economic empowerment program.
