Were the funds spent with a year of grant receipt?   Yes

If no, please explain why not below:

How was the money used?

The money was used to purchase items to address school attendance barriers in two Manatee County public Schools. Items purchased – Backpacks, graph paper, composition and spiral notebooks, crayons, rulers, pencils, socks, deodorant, men and women’s underwear, tissues, wet wipes, sticky notes, lice treatment kits, lysol wipes, snacks, toothpaste and tooth brushes, sanitary pads, body wash, shampoo and conditioner and laundry detergent, Some of the money was also used to support special programs at the schools (explanation below).
++ I will be sending you attendance stats for the schools we serve in January or February when they are made available to the public.

Was there an unexpected benefit or a special outcome from this grant that you would like to share? Yes

If yes, please explain:

Some of the money was used to support special programs at the schools. For example, one school has an on-going “Parent University” where families come for the evening. They have a meal together served by the school staff and then the students are entertained while the parents can attend various classes. An example of the classes – GED Prep, How To Help Your Child With Homework, What Resources Are Available, and more. Some of the TLC money was used to purchase little fun items that went into the “swag bags” the teachers made for the parents to take home. 80 families attended the first (of 4) Parent University and they loved the swag bags. These bags will encourage future attendance.
