How did you hear about our organization?

We initially heard of The Lake Club Women’s Giving Circle through Manatee Community Foundation and have been grant recipients for two previous years.

What do you believe we can provide your organization?

We believe TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation can help us provide something every child deserves: consistent access to nutritious food in a safe, caring environment. A $5,000 grant will directly purchase meals, snacks, and groceries for children and adolescents living in MCS’s emergency shelter and group homes. The youth who enter our residential care have all experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, or significant family disruption. For these children, having dependable meals each day is about more than meeting a basic need; it provides consistency, comfort, and a sense of normalcy during an otherwise difficult and uncertain time. TLC’s support will help us create a nurturing, home-like environment where children can gather around the table knowing they are safe, supported, and cared for.

What will the grant be used for?

Grant funds will directly provide groceries, meals, and healthy snacks for children and teens living in MCS’s Emergency Shelter and group homes. Based on current USDA Liberal Food Plan estimates, $5,000 can provide approximately one month of food for all 12 children when our Emergency Shelter is full. For children entering care after abuse, neglect, trauma, or family disruption, a dependable meal represents more than having enough to eat. It provides consistency, comfort, and a sense of normalcy. TLC’s support will help us ensure children have nutritious food each day while living in a safe, nurturing environment.

Provide the grant amount you are seeking: $5,000.00

Do you provide services to Sarasota and/or Manatee County? Yes

What is the financial impact per individual/program this grant will provide?

A $5,000 grant will provide approximately $417 in food support per child for 12 children when our Emergency Shelter is at full capacity. Based on current USDA Liberal Food Plan estimates, this funding can provide approximately one month of groceries, nutritious meals, and healthy snacks for the entire shelter. The financial impact is direct: grant funds will help meet one of the most essential daily needs of children in residential care while allowing MCS to maintain a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

Please provide the estimated number of women, children and families impacted.

Approximately 12 children in Manatee County will be directly served at any given time through this project. MCS’s Emergency Shelter can house up to 12 children who need a safe place to live following abuse, neglect, trauma, or family disruption. Because children enter and leave the shelter throughout the year, the $5,000 grant may ultimately benefit more than 12 individual children during the funding period. Grant funds will directly provide groceries, nutritious meals, and healthy snacks for youth residing in the shelter.

What reciprocal benefit can you provide our organization:

MCS would be happy to recognize TLC Women’s Charitable Foundation as a valued community partner through our website, social media, and monthly newsletter, as appropriate. We can also provide photos and impact updates demonstrating how TLC’s support directly benefits children in our residential care. In addition, we welcome opportunities to highlight our partnership and acknowledge TLC’s commitment to helping vulnerable children in the Manatee County community.
